Computerized Tomography (CT)
A
new CT scanning unit was installed at MCRHC in November 2000. The
helical computerized tomography scanner reduces the time required
to complete each scan by moving the patient through the gantry (doughnut
shaped ring) without stopping. While the patient is moving through
the unit, it is continually taking scans of that part of the body
requested by the patient’s medical provider.
The helical system allows doctors to see more angles of any part of the body they wish to examine. The new computer hardware and software processes the information quickly making the scan results available to the provider in less time.
