Mitchell County Memorial Foundation Announces 2009-2010 Scholarship Recipients
Osage - The Mitchell County Memorial Foundation has selected its $1,000.00 scholarship recipients for the graduating class of 2010. The students are Hayley Penfold from Osage High School, Victoria Christensen from Riceville High School and Lauren Schaefer from St. Ansgar High School. The students were honored at a breakfast on May 6 at Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage.
Board Vice President and Scholarship Review Committee Member, Leo Chisholm commented, “The review committee was impressed by the academic achievements of all the applicants and their aspirations to work in the health care field. Hayley, Victoria and Lauren should be very proud to have been selected from such a high caliber group of students.”

This is the sixth year the Foundation has provided one scholarship to a graduating senior from each of the three high schools in Mitchell County. A requirement for eligibility is the student’s desire to pursue a career in health care, such as nursing, pre-medicine or pharmacy. The $1,000.00 potential scholarship may be used toward the purchase of books, up to $500.00 per year for two years of the student’s formal education.
Generous donor gifts and memorials to the Mitchell County Memorial Foundation have made this scholarship opportunity available to students. Anyone who would like to make a gift to the Foundation’s Scholarship Fund may send it to the Mitchell County Memorial Foundation, 616 North Eighth Street, Osage, Iowa 50461.
