PHO REPORTS MODEST FINANCIALS AT REGULAR BOARD MEETING

The Mitchell County Regional Health Center Board of Trustees met in regular session on Thursday, May 22, 2008.  Michele Huntley-Larsen, Interim Chief Financial Officer, presented the April financials.  Income from Operations was $4,470 and Adjusted Excess Revenue was $42,282.  Huntley-Larsen explained that statistics were very good but that a decrease in Medicare reimbursement reduced the Income from Operations to more modest results. There was also a $284,000 repayment to Medicare during the month of April, which the PHO hopes to recoup at the end of the fiscal year.

According to Huntley-Larsen, the PHO had a good month with above budgeted numbers of acute patient days (152), births (7) and swing bed days (51).  Clinic provider visits and inpatient surgeries were also above budget.  The board approved the financial report.

Sandy Leggett, Chief Executive Officer, presented the board with a new format to report Quality Indicators.  Leggett explained to the Board that she would like to increase the emphasis on the PHO’s quality performance to the level of emphasis currently placed on its financial performance.
In other business the trustees:

  • Approved the Consent Agenda;
  • Approved Credentialing Recommendation from Dr. Ross Kelly;
  • Approved the Capital Purchase of an Agfa Computed Radiography Upgrade not to exceed $20,000.

The next regular board meeting will be held Thursday, June 26, 2008 at 7:30 a.m.  A special board meeting will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2008 at 7:30 a.m.
