Come “See and Feel the Difference” at Mitchell County Regional Health Center. MCRHC, a Planetree Health Center, provides patient-centered care to the 11,000 residents of Mitchell County and the surrounding area. The organization operates four family-practice clinics and a 25-bed critical access hospital with four physicians, four PA-c’s and a general surgeon. Visiting specialty physicians offer convenient and expanded health care services for local residents in orthopedics; ear, nose and throat; urology; podiatry; cardiology; audiology; and surgical services. In addition, the facility boasts a 16-slice CT scanner, a DXA scanner and nuclear medicine.
Through its Planetree affiliation, MCRHC provides health care services with an emphasis on “healing environments” and “healing partnerships”. To help create a healing environment, MCRHC has undergone extensive renovations in recent years, including a replacement clinic in Saint Ansgar and redecorating patient rooms in the hospital. Five teams of employees meet regularly to continually improve the patient experience at the hospital and clinics. In addition, the organization is working with other network hospitals to implement an electronic health record in 2008.
Mitchell County is located in north-central Iowa on the Minnesota border and was recently ranked in the top 15 best places to live in the Midwest by “The Progressive Farmer” magazine. The county boasts a low crime rate, low cost of living and ample recreational opportunities with the Big Cedar River threading through its center. The county seat, Osage, is located approximately 30 miles from Mason City, Iowa and 65 miles from Rochester, Minnesota.
